Solar Decathlon “Groundbreaking” Today
by Administrator
Today was the “groundbreaking” for the Tufts/BAC(Team Boston) Solar Decathlon house. My favorite part about the team so far is their website name: http://www.livecurio.us. Very clever in my opinion. The groundbreaking was essentially two people from the BAC meeting with the general contractor and two other builders to unlock the doors to their temporary headquarters on Boston Ave. and cut some plywood. They have to start somewhere though, and it will be fun to see the project unfold into a technological wonder of a house. I’m also really looking forward to getting to go down to DC for the real competition and see all the houses on the National Mall. Our documentary team(two video kids from Tufts, Howard Woolf(part of the ExCollege), and me) there this morning was almost as large as everybody else put together… so I think we were a little overwhelming for them and once things get rolling everything will be running more smooth on both sides.
Here are some general setting pictures of their temporary headquarters. I am not going to put pictures of people up until they all have hardhats on(required or they lose points) and I make sure I am allowed to upload them here.
Different people have very different opinions on what you should do with the first picture of the day. I am someone who likes to wait a good while before I snap the first one, especially if it’s portraits and such. Here is my first shot I took today:
