Yesterday’s Snow Brought Some Ice Today

by Administrator

The streets were deathtraps this morning as the rain and snow melted and froze in sheets over the road and sidewalks. By about 10 or so the sun warmed everything up enough to make sidewalks passable.

I had a caffeine test session this morning before 8, which was a test of my cognition powers under the effects of caffeine. Some of the memory tests seemed next to impossible. Oh my oh my. I think I’m going to put all the money from the study towards buying a new lens… a 30mm f1.2 from sigma I bet.

Last night I went to an Exposure/aftermath presentation about student photojournalism projects shot in Northern Uganda last summer. The students traveled there with my favorite cave photographer, Stephen Alvarez. When I was little I wanted to be a spelunker and I had a book of some of his National Geographic cave photos that always inspired adventure in me. He also has a fun blog to follow with insider insight on the photographic community.

Before even really posting about my pinhole portrait project, I have already got 5 people who say they want to be part of it, which is good news. I didn’t even realize that random people at Tufts read my blog or twitter posts. So look forward to posts over the coming weeks filled with fresh pinhole portraits.

I spent a good deal of time this evening looking at different job opportunities for this summer. Most of my choices fall into two categories: the ecology research jobs and the photography jobs, neither of which pay, some jobs that you have to pay to get to and take. I really wanted to get an internship at the Global Post, because they have strong Tufts connections, but have not gotten responses from the two inquisitive emails I have sent, so I’ll have to see about that. I have looked a looked most specifically at photo jobs for NGO’s who need help with marketing photos and possible blogs, both skillzzz I generally have. So wish me luck in my job search. If only I spoke Khmer, I would be a shoe in.

I also started posting images at the Tufts Photo Blog today, which everyone should check out and follow, because it will develop into something spectacular over the coming months.
